Formatting

Formatting is where a manuscript stops being a word document and becomes a real book. Structure, spacing, typography, and flow are refined so your book reads smoothly across every platform—print, ebook, and digital.

Formatting your book happens in steps

  • Structure and Flow Check

We begin by looking at your manuscript as a complete reading experience.

    We review:

    • Chapter order and flow

    • Section breaks and pacing

    • Structural clarity from beginning to end

This ensures your book feels cohesive, easy to follow, and intentionally structured before any formatting begins.

  • Visual Style Set Up

We establish the design system your book will follow.

    This includes:

    • Headings and typography style

    • Spacing and layout rhythm

    • Chapter formatting style

    • Overall readability and visual consistency

This step creates a unified “look and feel” your entire book will follow.

  • Manuscript Formatting

We apply the design system across your full manuscript.

    Your book is formatted into:

    • A clean, readable print layout

    • A properly structured ebook version

    • Consistent chapter and section styling throughout

At this stage, your manuscript becomes a fully formed book file.

  • Final Production & Export

We prepare your book for publishing platforms.

    This includes:

    • Print-ready PDF files

    • Ebook files for digital platforms

    • Final technical checks for formatting consistency

    • Ensuring everything is ready for upload and release

Your book is now fully prepared to go live.

  • Format your book, ideally, when it’s completely done being written and edited. No additional words, no last-minute acknowledgements.

Your formatted files, along with your cover files, are what you actually upload and send to print.

So get your manuscript as complete as you can; have your acknowledgements and dedication written, and think about what you want to include before and after the body of your book. Having all these pieces in place when you go to format makes it a lot easier.
